来瞧瞧EBTG主理Back To Mine的文案

“Twelve tracks from a combined collection of thousands. No problem!! First it seemed like fun, then daunting, then plain hard work, then disappointing as a few choice were unavailable, then at least fun again. Of course we could have made many compilations out of the different moods and styles of music that have inspired us over the years, so at least when DMC approach us, it narrowed the field a bit. We felt with the ‘Back To Mine’ series we were being asked for a contemporary, late-night selection-some of it mixed in a DJ style, some of it not, so that is what we have gone for. This particular compilation is dominated by music that has been our inspiration for the past seven or eight years, and as well as great grooves and moods we have looked to include great vocals, great lyrics and great songs. We’d like to spare a thought for the artist whose tracks were either unavailable on first request or simply forced out by lack of space – they included Jeff Buckley, Quincy Jones, Kevin Yost, 808 state with James Dean Bradfield, Kool Keith, Total and Common. We have touched on the eighties with Mary Margaret O’ Hara, and the early seventies with perhaps one of our favorite all-time artists, Donny Hathaway, but in the main this is a nineties and onwards collection. Turn the light down, pour yourself a drink and kick back…”

DJ Cam “Friends and Enemies”French electro-hip hop meets a Bill Evans-Verve Records. From a classic downtempo albums “Substances”. A kind of modern jazz greeting

Slick Rick “All Alone(No one to be with)”
Picked up in a Phoenix record shop on tour in the mid-nineties. This felt like a new-style kitchen-sink lyric, vocal delivery and mood. It went on to influence our own stuff.

Deadly Avenger “The Bayou”
We used to go and listen to Howie B deejay at the Paradise-By-Way-of-Kensal-Green on Sunday nights in west London. Sixty people, bar, battered sofas. He played this one night and it has stayed with us since. Cinematic and serene.

Beth Orton “Stars All Seems to Weep”
A beautiful song from friend and collaborator, Beth. Working off the original guitar demo. Ben laid the basic beat and synth chords down one morning before Beth came to the studio. She just got up and sang it straightaway in one take.

Model 500 “The Flow”(Juan Atkins G-Funk Mix)
At around 112bpm this is an unfashionable tempo these days, but it has a sly funk mood from a Detroit techno pioneer, and is one of Tracey’s faves. Samrt no-fuss vocal.

The Ananda Project “Cascades of Color”(Wamdue Black Mix)
A deep house classic. Tracey’s favourite tune of the year when it came out two or three years ago.

Dubtribe Sound System “Do it now”
We thought about editing this down but in the end wanted to leave it in all its glory. A track that could have been recorded at any point over the past twenty years. It’s almost a missing link between understand non-gospel-influenced soulful songwriting that we feel is very much a part of us, and house music. It had to be a lynchpin for this record.

Carl Craig “A Wonderful Life”
This is like driving down Westway at night into central London. In spite of its techno origins, it has echoes of the slow tracks on one of four favourite early eighties album, Joy Division’s “Closer”. It was a primary influence behind “Big Deal” on Walking Wounded

Mary Margaret O’Hara “To Cry About”
Spent a Christmas in New York with the album from which this comes, “Miss America”, on rewind. What ever happened to…?

The Roots “Silent Treatment”
Hand-made soulful hip hop with possible one of greatest modern drummers. Sometimes the whole track goes by and you just hear the drums.

Deadbeat “Funky For You”(Spacehoper Original Mix)
A great mood trip that pulls you deep into the armchair before…

Donny Hathaway “Someday We’ll All Be Free”
Taken from the “Extension of A Man” album, Donny Hathaway must be one of the greatest unsung heros of black music. A handful of great albums, some live, some studio-based, and then a tragic suicide. The best singer ever, who makes you sometimes wondering whether it’s ever worth recording anything again. We wanted an uplifting, positive end. Music like this is almost enough to make you believe in God…

:love::yy:

EBTG的Waling Wounded里一曲"Single"是sample了Tim Buckley的“Song to the Siren”
