Featuring his finest material since the seminal "Fragile/Static" twelve back in '99, Alaska Melting deploys two brand new Monolake killers following the tried and tesed metallic techno template - but somehow with enough of a shift of emphasis to keep things fresh and predictably crushing. The production here really is almost unfathomable - crisp, airy and yet incredibly heavy, with 'Alaska' deploying a regimented bassline that could almost underpin dubstep with its rugged convulsions, while 'Melting' opens up into a vast display of effortlessly intricate 4/4 variations that make techno sound perfectly pristine.
